Volunteering with Our Shelter
Volunteers are welcome during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. We have morning and afternoon shifts available for our volunteers to select a schedule that works best for them. We would also greatly appreciate help from our volunteers during any Saturday events, which can include offsite adoption events. Processing of our volunteer applications can take up to two weeks. Our shelter accepts volunteers starting at the age of 14 that do not have to be accompanied by a parent. Volunteers under the age of 14 may be accepted under certain special circumstances as long as they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
What can I volunteer for?
The first time a volunteer comes to the shelter, they will go through Volunteer Orientation. It is required that all volunteers are familiar with the shelter's standard operating procedures before they are allowed to volunteer in the shelter.
After volunteers complete the orientation, they will have a volunteer task list to identify important tasks that need to be completed on a daily basis.
Some volunteer tasks may include: Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, organizing storage areas, maintaining the cleanliness of the shelter admin building, keeping outside areas clean and free of debris, playing and socializing with our shelter animals, bathing shelter animals, or setting up for and cleaning up after shelter events. Other tasks can be added as the volunteer is able and comfortable with more tasks.
Inclusive volunteering
Our facility is inclusive, and we can customize your volunteer experience for your needs. Please give us a call or come into the shelter for a tour of our facilities to discuss any accommodations you may need.
